What to say about your termination?

I've only been terminated once. It was a complete blow to my confidence. That low confidence level reared its ugly head whenever I had to interview for a new position.

UGH!

It wasn't until I a mentor said that a termination was a great way to reposition myself. Really? Reposition myself was not high on mt list. After all, how was I supposed to be successful in my career path if others didn't like my work product?

Turns out, in the long run, my mentor was correct. The termination was a way to figure out what my focus for the next leg of my life-journey was going to be. Instead of looking at the termination as a set-back, I needed to look at it as a restart.

That is exactly how I learned to deal with it in the interview. This article from The Balance has some great advice in how to deal with the question. They also go a step farther and give advice on what not to say - which sometimes can be just as important as what to say.
